Who to Call

A. Call Call 9-1-1 if there is an emergency. Or call 952.882.2600. This number is answered by central dispatch, who can send an officer to see you or call you.

A. Contact your local electrical provider. This may be Xcel Energy or Minnesota Valley Electric (a map is available that displays the regions in Savage that each company serves).

A. Leave the area immediately on foot and tell others to do the same.  Do not use electric switches, telephones (including cell phones), drive or start a vehicle, or do anything that could cause a spark.  Once safely away from the area, call the CenterPoint Energy emergency gas leak hotline at 1.800.296.9815 and dial 911 to report the location and description of the leak; and CenterPoint Energy will send a trained service technician immediately.  Never try to repair a gas leak yourself.  Leave all repairs to a trained technician.

A. Do not call anyone. Immediately seek shelter. The sirens are sounding because of severe weather. By calling police or emergency numbers you will tie up the Emergency 911 Lines.

A. For traffic signal out, contact Scott County Dispatch at 952.445.1411.  For Street Lights out contact Savage Public Works at 952.224.3400.

A. If your vehicle was towed by the order of the Savage Police Department, it was towed to Allen's Service located at 7215 West 128th Street in Savage. The phone number is 952.894.1000.

A. Savage Police does not have the facilities to do fingerprinting. Please contact the Scott County Jail at 952.496.8314.

A. The Savage Police Department will respond to vehicle lock-outs if it is an emergency situation. (for example a child is locked in the car). If a non-emergency situation, you need to contact a locksmith or full-service gas station. Allen's Service does lockouts. Their phone number is 952.894.1000.

A. For Scott County Court information about payments of fines or court dates, please call 952.496.8228.

A. Obtain a Recreational Fire Permit from City Hall. Call 952.882.2660.

A. Yes, within certain conditions. If you meet all the conditions, contact the Savage Police Department at 952-882-2600 for an application. The application will be reviewed and you will be contacted when your ride-along will occur.

A. Contact the Deputy Registrar's Office. The closest one is called The License Bureau and is located at 14125 Commerce Avenue in Prior Lake (CR 42 & Hwy 13) The phone number is 952.447.8817.

A. Request forms to obtain a copy of a police report are available from the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the Police Department. There are fees associated with reports. Reports are generally 0.25 per page. Driving Records for residents are $3.00; non-residents are charged $5.00. CDs/Audio/Photos are $10.00 per CD, and VHS Tapes are $30.00 per tape.


Ordinances

A. Yes. The main restriction is that there is no parking on any city street between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day. For more information on this and other city ordinances, go to the ordinances page.

A. In residential districts; provided the vehicle is owned by the property owner where the vehicle is parked and the vehicle is currently licensed, operable, and parked entirely on a hard surfaced driveway (i.e. concrete, asphalt). Commercial vehicles are not allowed parked within a residential area advertised For Sale.

At no time shall a vehicle be parked upon a city street, city parking lot, or upon city property for the purpose of displaying it for sale. Please contact the Savage Police Department at 882-2600 for additional requirements as well as the requirements for commercial vehicles and districts.

A. Yes, annually. Contact the Savage Police Department at 952.882.2600 to obtain licensing requirements.

A. Yes. Ordinance states in part: The owner shall keep their animal under restraint/control at all times. No animal shall be permitted to run a large within the limits of the city. This shall apply equally to dogs, cats and other animals.

A. No. City Ordinance states that no person shall bring a dog into a park unless the dog is leashed or inside a motor vehicle. Dog owners or handlers must remove any feces dropped by their animal.

A. The following curfew restrictions apply to public streets, alleys, parks, playgrounds, or other public buildings, places of amusement, entertainment, refreshment, or vacant lot.

A. Ordinance states in part: No snowmobile may be operated in the city except:

  1. while loading or unloading a snowmobile from a trailer or other similar form of transport.
  2. while performing maintenance and repair of a snowmobile within 300 feet of the registered owner's place of residence.
  3. For direct snowmobile access to or from the closest designated snowmobile trail, or
  4. on a designated snowmobile trail.


In addition, the following restrictions apply:

  • Every day between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • On any land not his own, unless otherwise allowed by law, without the written or oral permission of the land owner.
  • No snowmobile may be operated within 300 feet of a residence at a speed greater than 10 mph, and within 100 feet of another snowmobile proceeding in same direction
  • Within public right of way at speeds in excess of 15 mph.
  • At any place in a careless, reckless or negligent manner.
  • On any sidewalk.
  • On any school property within 100 feet of any building, sliding, skating or other athletic area during the period of one hour before through one hour after normal school hours.
  • In a cemetery.

A. No. However, City Ordinance does allow one nonilluminated sign, not exceeding two (2) square feet in area, to be placed flat against the primary structure of which the licensed daycare or home occupation is located.

A. No. House for Sale signs can only be placed on the property that is for sale. No off-site signage is allowed.

Police Programs

A. Operation Identification is a program where people are assigned a unique number that they engrave on their possessions. If the items are lost or stolen, they may be entered into the national computer system. If they are recovered, police may query on the number and find the owner. A. The police respond 24 hours a day and 365 days a year for people who need assistance or need to report something.
