McColl Pond ELC

McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center (ELC)

The Environmental Learning Center is located at Community Park. The building is constructed of recycled materials and incorporates several environmentally-friendly features that serve as models for sustainable design. These include, but are not limited to, a green roof and rain gardens to filter storm water; and geothermal and solar devices to heat and cool the building.

The ELC is a multi-purpose facility that can be used by community members of all ages.

On April 21, 2008, the City Council adopted a resolution to award low bid for the McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center (ELC). The low bidder for the project was Fendler Patterson Construction in the amount of $2,053,130.75. Previous City Council action on April 7 received the bids to allow for tabulation and publication.

The Fendler Patterson bid covers building construction and site improvements. When total project costs are calculated including project contingency (5 percent), architect, furnishings and fixtures we arrive at a total project cost in the amount of $2,440,511.
